Book review: Something About September

Something About September: A Cozy Fall Romance

Cozy up with your pumpkin spiced latte and a slice of apple pie, because it's time to fall in love in Bramley Hollow...

A fall-inspired second-chance romance about a woman who returns home after inheriting her grandmother’s diner, only to discover the contractor she must hire was her high school crush.

Sweater weather is better together.

Rebecca Macintosh has always felt that there’s just something about September—nostalgia, crisp mornings, and possibility. But not this year. Rebecca has thirty days to return home to fix up her late grandmother’s diner or face the consequences. And the only contractor in town? Cort Adams. The man who rejected her one year ago. He’s somehow even better looking as a single dad than when he was the high school football star she once tutored. She’d been hoping to avoid him forever.

As the golden leaves start to fall, Rebecca may find that there’s more to her hometown—and to Cort—than she’d realized, and that the dreams she’s been chasing might have been the wrong ones. Could a spark kindle hot enough in the cool autumn air to call Rebecca home for good?

Book Review
Cozy, romantic, nostalgic, and wonderfully autumnal, Something About September feels made for readers who start craving fall romance the second the calendar gets anywhere near September. It has small-town charm, family and community, second chances, a single dad, and just enough emotional depth beneath all those golden leaves.

Enjoy with the krewe.....

Bearing His Sins (Valor Ridge Book 4)

Bearing His Sins (Valor Ridge Book 4)

He’s built like a fortress… and just as locked down.

Dane “Bear” McKenna knows exactly what he’s capable of when his temper snaps, and he refuses to let it happen again. A former combat medic with a dishonorable discharge, Bear came to Valor Ridge to work and stay the hell away from anything that might set him off, relying on his dog, King, to keep him grounded.

Then his carefully controlled life explodes.

When the ex-wife who kept his son from him dies suddenly, Bear is thrust into single fatherhood. Logan is fifteen, angry, grieving, and convinced his father is the violent monster everyone warned him about. Now Bear has eight weeks to prove he’s more than his worst mistake, or he’ll lose his son forever.

She’s fueled by obsession… and she doesn’t know how to quit.

Greta Dougherty is entirely too comfortable poking the bear. The wilderness outfitter has spent fifteen years searching for her missing twin sister, and obsession has taught her one thing: fear gets you nowhere. She doesn’t do caution. She pushes. She challenges. And she refuses to be intimidated by the massive, growling man across the street who insists he wants nothing to do with her… even as he watches her like he’s desperate for a taste.

Together, they’re a disaster in the making.

Bear tells himself to stay away. Greta makes his pulse spike and his control strain in ways that terrify him. But when her search puts her in real danger, and someone starts sabotaging her expeditions, walking away isn’t an option. As threats escalate and a custody battle looms, Bear must decide what scares him more: losing control… or losing the people who are finally starting to feel like home.

Bearing His Sins is a grumpy/sunshine, single-dad romantic suspense with fast-burn chemistry, high stakes, loyal dogs, and the found family Valor Ridge is known for. Expect to be up late turning pages.

Book Review

Love Bear and Greta’s story but this is just as much Bear and Logan’s story too. Once I started reading it was hard to stop. Bear’s character is so easy to care about. He has a heart of gold. And Greta’s nicknames made me smile. Definitely recommend. While you may be able to read this book standalone, the series is top notch and I recommend all of them.

Book Review Must Love Goats

Must Love Goats: A Small Town Sweet Romance (Sweet Romance Bites Book 6)

Thea Lawson is forty-three, freshly divorced, and one missed deadline away from losing her publisher.

Thea rented a farmhouse in Georgia for one reason: to finish her children's picture book in peace. No distractions. No entanglements. No one telling her what she should be doing with her life.

Then a one-eared goat eats her porch cushions.

Dr. Jonah Keller, the town's veterinarian, keeps showing up in Thea's yard - apologetic, disarmingly kind, and chasing livestock that treat the property-line fence as a suggestion. He's forty-five, quietly lonely after years of being everyone's steady hand and no one's priority, and he wasn't expecting the prickly new renter next door to become the person he most wants to talk to.

As Thea gets roped into a meddling book club, a goat that follows her to the post office, and a small-town Fall Festival she somehow agreed to help plan, she starts to wonder if the life she was running from might look a lot like the life she actually wants.

A sweet, laugh-out-loud later-in-life romance about second chances, stubborn goats, and the terrifying, wonderful possibility that forty-three is just the beginning.

Book Review

The Daisy Chain Flower Shop is book 6 in the Dream Harbour series and once again this author has created a hallmark worthy romance "fake dating" that turns into a whirlwind of a love story! It's a read that has you feeling giddy and happy, reading it with a silly smile on your face. There's very little spice, but the spice that is there just adds to the romance unfolding!! Out of the 6 I honestly don't think I have a favourite, they all cross over perfectly.
